Game Review: Fortnite (Part 3)

Fortnite Squads

There are three different types of squads that affect your character level and experience; survivor squads, defender squads, and expedition squads. AllA?squads are set up byA?cards earned through the llamas or the collection book.

The survivor squads improve your F.O.R.T. statistics, allowing for increased health, damage, technologies, and shields. The survivors can create 8 different squads, each squad controls a different stat. There are many different kinds of survivors that can make up these teams so keep in mind that it is best to put similarA?survivors with similar survivor leads. If a survivor is beneficial to add to a squad, the stats on the left hand side of the screen will flash green.

Defender Squads are made up of AI defenders who can be summoned in-game to assist with base defense. They come in 5 varieties and are designed to use particular weapons: snipers, shotguns, assault rifles, pistols, and melee weapons.

Expedition squads are teams that head out on missions to gather resources. The people who make up these squads are Heroes. Each mission has a difficulty rating and a power requirement, which means that some missions may require more than one Hero to complete. Each mission has a time requirement which means that the Heroes that go on these missions will be inaccessible until they return.

Fortnite Weapons and Traps

Between the weapons and the traps, both are extremely important. Weapons are obviously important to shooting and killing enemies. Traps are important because they can be set on any base you build to harm the attackers and lessen their health before they break into your base.

The weapons throughout the game are typical slaying weapons.

The guns that you can choose from include assault rifle, pistol, sniper rifle, shotgun, and even explosive weapons such as grenade launchers.

Melee weapons that are accessible through the game include swords, axes, spears, scythes, clubs, and hardware. Hardware is the best becauseA?it is pretty much random items turned into weapons.

There are many different kinds of traps as well. However, they are separated by where they are placed: the floor, the wall, or the ceiling.

Conclusion

There are many different aspects to Fortnite, making it the kind of game to attract all gamers. Not even all of the aspects could be explained in less than two different articles. As inclusive as it is of all of these different types of gaming, Fortnite pulls it off quite well. Although the load times are ridiculous the game itself is well worth the wait.

I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys Minecraft or Dungeon Defenders, as well as anyone looking to try something new.
