SYTYCW: Gamer Life – First Place

Check out the best writer for February’s SYTYCW Competition: Gamer Life!

February 2018: Gamer Life

For the month of February, we asked our fellow gamers to tell us the story that got them into gaming. We had an excellent turnout, so it was difficult to pick a winner. Heck, second and third place were a tie. Thank you to everyone who participated! All of those posts were fun to read. However, we did save the best for last.

First Place

First place: Ixany

Through my childhood I remember many games, but none touched me like my first multiplayer game. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

I remember being in Middle School when it came out, an eager 11 year-old kid just waiting for it to be released. It was my first game on Xbox Live. I never talked to others online and for the first time in my life I felt truly connected to the outside world. It gave me the love and passion I have forA?games now. I put countless hours into it, played everyday after school. I played through my holiday vacations and rarely left my bedroom in the summer.

That was a year that forever shaped my life in more ways than one. It became the foundation of where I am now and everything in between.A?It taught me how to communicate with others in a way I never knew before. I made countless friends and the memories I have with them I still remember fondly. In fact, I still have some of them added on my social media just to watch us all grow up separately, yet somehow together. Remembering the days of all of us being children playing together, now to see them as fully grown adults with wives and children.

It’s a bittersweet moment, but we all never put down the controller. We get together to reminisce on occasion of the our “good ol’ days” and the camaraderie is still just as strong as 7 years ago. I’ve never experienced something like that in all of the rest of my life and that’s what makes it so immensely special.

Everyone had that one game, and for me it was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I love that game with all my heart truly and will never find another one like it.

Conclusion
